Cookies
No cookies without your consent. And your files go nowhere.
No cookies without your consent
Holy PDF sets no cookies until you accept something. The site has no advertising and no tracking pixel. Every tool works the same, whether you accept audience measurement or not.
Audience measurement, if you accept it
A banner asks whether Holy PDF may count its visits with Google Analytics. Before you answer, nothing is loaded and no cookie is set. If you decline, nothing changes.
If you accept, Google Analytics receives the pages you view, your browser, your type of device, your approximate country, and the name of the tool you used when it finished. It never receives a file, nor its name, its size or its content: your documents stay on your device. Google’s advertising signals are off.
Google Analytics then sets two cookies:
| Cookie | What it is for | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
_ga |
telling your visits apart from other people’s | 13 months |
_ga_<id> |
keeping the state of your visit | 13 months |
Your choice is kept for six months, then the site asks again. The recipient, the transfer and how long the data is kept are on the Privacy page.
Changing your mind
The “Cookie settings” button, at the bottom of every page, opens the banner again. If you withdraw your consent, the measurement stops and the site erases these cookies.
Three settings, on your device
The site keeps three settings in your browser’s local storage (localStorage), and only if you choose them:
| Key | What it keeps | When it is created |
|---|---|---|
theme |
the light or dark theme | when you press the theme button |
view |
the compact view of the home page | when you press “Compact view” |
analytics |
your answer about audience measurement, and its date | when you answer the banner |
These settings stay on your device and are never sent. They serve a customisation you asked for, or keep your choice: under the recommendations of the CNIL, the French data protection authority, they need no consent.
Clearing them
In your browser settings, clear the data of the site. Holy PDF then goes back to your device’s theme and to the cards of the home page, and asks again about audience measurement.
