How to, frequent questions

How to do it

  1. Drop your PDF in the area above, or choose it on your device.
  2. Choose the format, the position, the first number and the pages to number.
  3. Click “Number the pages”, then download the numbered PDF.

Numbering the pages of a PDF helps when you print a file, a thesis or a contract, and need to find your way once the sheets are shuffled.

Brother Folio does everything on your device: your documents never leave your computer or your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF sent to a server?

No. The numbering happens in your browser, on your device. No file is sent or stored.

Can I leave the cover without a number?

Yes. Choose “A range of pages” and start at page 2. The first page of the range gets the first number: set it to 2 if the cover counts.

Which formats are offered?

The number alone (“3”), the number and the total (“3 / 12”), or the word “Page” followed by the number (“Page 3”).

Does the number follow a rotated page?

Yes. It sits where you read the page, upright, even when the page is rotated in the file.

Does the text of my PDF stay selectable?

Yes. The pages are not turned into images: the number is added to the content, and the original text stays selectable.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no watermark.
