How to, frequent questions

How to do it

  1. Drop a PDF in the area above, or choose it on your device.
  2. Drag across the page to cover what must disappear; change page and do it again.
  3. Click “Redact the PDF”, then download the copy and check it before you share it.

Redacting a PDF lets you share a document after removing for good what must not travel: a name, an address, an account number.

Brother Inkpot does everything on your device: your documents never leave your computer or your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Can the hidden text be recovered?

No. A redacted page becomes a picture: its text, form fields, notes and links leave the file. A plain black box over the text would leave it copyable; here, nothing is left under it.

Is my PDF sent to a server?

No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. No file is sent or stored.

What happens to the rest of the redacted page?

It stays visible, as it was, but as a picture: it can no longer be selected or searched. The other pages do not change.

Will the file be heavier?

A little: a redacted page is a picture of about 1 MB at A4 size.
