How to, frequent questions

How to do it

  1. Drop your PDF in the area above: its first page shows.
  2. Pick a tool, then click or drag on the page: text, image, rectangle, arrow, pen, highlighter, note, word highlight, link or stamp. A form's fields are filled in place: click into one. The Field tool adds some: text, checkbox or dropdown.
  3. Correct, move or delete what the PDF already holds; move, resize or delete what you added; then click “Save the changes”.

Editing a PDF lets you correct a date or a name, fill in a printed form, annotate a document, circle a detail or add a logo, without installing anything.

Brother Scribe does everything on your device: your documents never leave your computer or your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the text already in the PDF?

Yes: double-click a line to correct it in place. It keeps its font when that font can write the letters you type; otherwise it switches to the closest standard font, and the screen tells you. A line can also be moved, or deleted.

Can I move, crop or delete an image of the PDF?

Yes: click it, then drag it, resize it by its corners, turn it, mirror it, crop it or delete it. A drawing moves and deletes too. A deleted object leaves the file.

Does the text wrap?

Yes: drag with the Text tool to draw a box, and your lines wrap at its width, on screen as in the file. A single click places a free text.

Does the added text stay text?

Yes: it can be selected, copied and found by search, in every PDF reader.

Which letters can I write?

Latin letters with their common accents (é, è, ç, ü…). The PDF's standard fonts cannot write some Eastern European letters, emojis or other alphabets: the screen says so.

Is my PDF sent to a server?

No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. No file is sent or stored.

What about a protected or signed PDF?

A protected PDF opens with its password, and the copy keeps it. A signed PDF is refused: the edited copy would make its signature invalid.
